Gaz Gaskell is Tony Gaskell, (known as Gaz or Gazzer from school days) a musician and performer, sound engineer, fretted instrument repairer and small part actor, who has devoted a lifetime to his love of music and performing art. Starting out in 1960 in the days of Merseybeat playing at venues such as the Cavern, with the likes of the Beatles, Gerry & the Big Three, Tony played bass guitar with Johnny Templar & the Hi-cats during which time he experimented with early bass reflex cabinets and studied the principles of electronics & audio.

Throughout all of this Tony still performed his music (Country rock) with his band Hartford West and carried on repairing instruments & providing audio services/installations.

 

 He joined Equity in the mid 70s and commenced a part time career as a TV extra/small part actor, which has carried on until today. In the late 80s he founded Tony King Entertainments, which would become a major force in managing, promoting & arranging shows for the likes of Screaming Lord Sutch, The Undertakers, Tony Christie, The Bachelors, The Drifters, The Platters, Farons Flamingos, both in the UK & Abroad.

Whilst Tony still performed with Hartford West, he also toured with Screaming Lord Sutch on bass & vocals with his group the Savages, doubling up as tour & stage manager. Tony Had known Dave Sutch from the days of the Cavern, meeting up again in the 80s to become his election Agent! By this time Sound rigs had come of age and lighting had become an important part of show business.

Tony was heavily involved in designing & setting up of these touring rigs along with training the new sound & lighting engineers in using the gear. The mid 90s found Tony going back to basics, still playing live music, Hiring out PA systems and repairing guitars, Tony completed a BA (Hons) Degree in adult education and teaches performing arts & musician audio & instrument repair courses on a part time basis.
